Introduction

Welcome to JuicyLemon.com. My name is Nick Arnold, principle writer, and owner of the company, and I'd like to briefly tell you about myself, and why I started Juicy Lemon.com

I have been in the music industry for over 25 years, learning various aspects from writing, to production, from being "on the road" gigging, to negotiating contracts and placing material around the world. Along the way, I've notched up over a million record sales, and had two major worldwide hits, and a whole host of independent works that continue to receive recognition and the all important airplay.

I believe myself to be qualified in what I do, and am more than willing to pass on any knowledge I've gained to clients, friends and anyone that takes time out to mail me for advice. After many years of learning the craft of songwriting, I decided that this was the field within the industry that I wanted to concentrate on as a career. Whilst production and gigging is great fun, I get the most satisfaction from sitting down at the piano, with a blank sheet of paper and writing songs. My ultimate goal was to build a name for myself, and hope that others would want to have my name associated with their projects.

My biggest hit was as part of a production trio back in 1992 called the "Smart E's" and we released a track called "Sesame's Treet". This climbed to #2 in the UK National Chart and #1 in the US Billboard Dance Chart. It went gold or silver in several other territories and to this day, is still regarded as the biggest "Toytown Techno" hit in the world, selling over 1 million units worldwide, 480,000 in the US alone! We then wrote an album for the US, and did a brief tour, and despite being in the industry for about 10 years before this, "Sesame's Treet" was without doubt the springboard to my success.

From 1995-2005, after experiencing being a hit recording artist was all about, I decided it wasn't for me. I know that most people aspiring for this kind of recognition wouldn't believe it, but it is genuinely true. I didn't enjoy the exposure, I didn't enjoy being pushed and pulled to make other people money and I certainly didn't enjoy the feeling associated with missing my family whilst out every weekend promoting and being on tour over an entire Christmas period, which cost me my first serious relationship. So, I decided to concentrate on what I really enjoyed which was writing songs. During this period, I wrote around 20 new songs, with the intention of starting a very low-key, unknown musical group in a genré that I thoroughly enjoyed which was called Hardcore. This is a very fast 4/4 style of music, normally associated with the Rave scene, although it runs much deeper than that to me. I started a new act called "Bang!", further details of which can be found here at Wikipedia.

I wrote what was to become the pinnacle of my career so far which was a song called "Shooting Star", which not only became arguably the biggest anthem of all time in the Hardcore scene, it also went on to be a massive UK hit for dance act Flip 'n' Fill (AATW). I had already appeared on Top Of The Pops here in the UK with "The Smart E's", but doing it again, but this time watching someone else perform your song was mind-boggling and an experience I shall never forget. I went on to sign to Peermusic (UK) Ltd. as a songwriter, and have, since then, been invited to work with many wonderful people, sometimes as a co-writer, and sometimes as a writer.

So to conclude, whilst I'm not here to convince you that I can write hit after hit, I don't believe anyone can do that, I do hope you can trust my judgment. I am a wordsmith, and enjoy the complexities of modern language, especially as it evolves in time, from the back slang of the east London docks in the 1920's, to the jive talking of New York in the 70's to the modern "txt spk" of todays technology generation.

I do hope that gives you a better understanding of my background, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Nick Arnold.
